I needed an ultra-wide angle lens for an architecture shoot and, considering my budget, I went for the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L. It’s a nice lens and I’ll share some images shot with it, but in the mean time, here’s the unboxing video.
This lens is pretty big, but surprisingly light. Putting it on my 5D Mk III the whole setup feels seriously solid. I have heard that this lens is known for its distortion and chromatic aberration but, considering that those are fairly repeatable issues and the lens design has been in the market for a while, it’s safe to assume I’ll be able to correct those issues using Lightroom.
Have you used ultra-wide angle lenses like this? If so, what was your experience with them? Please, leave a comment below.
